Floyd Mayweather To Come Out of Retirement to Face Logan Paul

Boxing may not be quite as popular as it once was in the pantheon of American sports, but every now and then the sport will do something crazy enough to remind you that it’s still going strong. According to various reports, we may soon get a bout unlike any we’ve ever seen before.

Last November, notable YouTuber Logan Paul challenged the most famous boxer in the world, Floyd Mayweather, to a fight. The comments came shortly after his loss to KSI in a rematch. Less than a year later, it sounds like Mayweather has actually taken him up on that offer.

Mayweather-Paul Official?

Another YouTuber, Daniel Keem, says the two have agreed to fight at some point later this year. Mike Feinberg of The Fighting News later reported that Mayweather has officially come out of retirement and has already signed the paperwork, making the fight official.

Feinberg said that Paul would be a “walk in the park” for Mayweather, who has a perfect career record of 50-0 in the ring. Paul is no professional boxer by any means, but Feinberg believes Mayweather was willing to end his retirement for the event because of the massive amount of money it figures to bring in. Paul’s YouTube channel has millions of subscribers.

Feinberg said, “I’ve got some breaking news for you. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is coming out of retirement and has just officially signed a contract to fight in an exhibition match against Logan Paul – YouTube sensation Logan Paul. I don’t understand the fight. Logan Paul has tried his hand at professional boxing – couldn’t beat the other nobody [that] nobody’s ever heard of before.”

Paul Will Be a Huge Betting Underdog

Two of the three judges for Paul’s first against KSI in 2018 scored it as a draw, while the third judge gave KSI a narrow victory. Last November, KSI was awarded the victory in the second fight.

Feinberg added, “Paul’s now 0-1. He’s going to be fighting one of the best in Floyd Mayweather. It’s going to be a joke of a fight, but it’s signed. It’s official. I heard it from a reputable source today and even saw the signed picture of the signed contract where Floyd signed on the dotted line for the exhibition match.”

Paul has tried to line up fights with a number of other noteworthy people, including former NFL Pro Bowler Antonio Brown. Paul and Brown seemed to be nearing agreement on a fight before the plans were scrapped.

Paul has considered launching his own mixed martial arts career, but nothing on that front has come to pass. The 6’3″ Paul has a clear size advantage over the smaller Mayweather, but Mayweather is known as one of the quickest and most elusive fighters of all-time. One of the best MMA fighters of all-time, Conor McGregor, couldn’t quite hang with Mayweather in the ring, so, needless to say, Paul will be up against it.

No date or location for the proposed bout between Mayweather and Paul has been announced as of yet.
